so unlike last year, aaron didn't arrive in la until 2 days after christmas. but luckily, the weekend he came home, i had that monday off so we decided to do a day trip to las vegas. we exchanged presents at his house on saturday and then drove to vegas on sunday afternoon. we decided to only stay a night since the hotel would only be $40 and we didn't really have any big plans in vegas. before we left, we pretty much planned the places we would go eat and that's it. little did i know, aaron got us tickets to go see jabbawockeez for one of my christmas presents!

we knew we would eat at *undisclosed location* right when we got into vegas since it's our favorite place to eat when we're there, but when we got there we saw the line was at least a 2 hour wait! we didn't think it was worth it since we were starving so we thought.. let's try the place we were planning to go for dinner! perfect! when we got to the car to look up directions, it turned out the restaurant was closed on sundays. wow, what a fail! but i couldn't help but laugh because we planned so hard for the restaurants. while i'm trying to find a new restaurant, aaron is panicking because he can't find the email about jabbawockeez, which to me is only adding to the comedy of failure we somehow got ourselves into. by now, we're getting super grumpy so we decided to eat at the wynn buffet since that's where i wanted to eat at on monday (it's cheaper during the week). after waiting in line for 30 minutes for the wynn buffet, aaron realizes he left his wallet in the car -____-. and when we get to the front, it ends up being $50 a person for lunch buffet! on top of that, they gave us a 2 hour limit (not that we need more than 2 hours, but still)! considering it's the wynn, we were both pretty disappointed with the food selection. we stuck with the food with the biggest bang for our buck -- seafood, prime rib & dessert. we didn't waste time, we went straight for the crab legs and prime rib. the prime rib the first time around was disgusting to say the least. i felt like i was eating rubber.. no offense to rubber. luckily, the second and *cough* third time around, it was much more tender and eatable. can't say whether or not we got our money's worth, but we ate til our stomachs hurt.

after dinner we walked around for a bit and then decided to check in at the hotel. once we checked in, the woman saw that we were only staying one night so she upgraded us to a suite! not that we really needed it, but it's always nice to get upgraded. after i got ready, we headed to luxor to get our jabbawockeez tickets, grab a couple drinks before the show, and then watch the show. aaron and i decided to be cheapo's and get drinks at the bar while playing one those blackjack machines, which i'm convinced are rigged but whatever. we put $10 in the game and got two "free" drinks each. i cashed out of the game with $5 left so i ended up only paying only $7 (including tip) for two drinks. score!
when we got into the show, i was surprised by how small the audience area was. right before the show was going to start, we got upgraded to better seats! i was really looking forward to seeing them since i loved them during abdc. the show was... disappointing. first off, there were definitely over 10 guys dancing -- wayy more than the original group. second, they never took of their masks so how do we know if the original were even there?? ugh. and the story line was really weird too, but i'm still glad we got to see it since i wanted to see it so badly. i think aaron and i will just stick to cirque du soleil shows from now on. after the show, we just headed back to the hotel and relaxed :)
the next day we decided to attempt to eat at *undisclosed location* again and when we got there, it was only a 30 minute wait! aaron and i shared a plate of oysters and a pan roast (location giveaway). the chef there was the same chef from the last time who hooked us up with free oysters and this time was no different. he threw in a free oyster to our half dozen and after we were done eating, he made us these oyster, cracker sandwiches. to some this may sound unimpressive, but he didn't give anyone else free food and i could already see a 2 hour wait line forming. the guy was also super nice and funny. now i only want to eat here when he's working! this place is the best and was the perfect way to end our short trip.
even though there were some bumps in this very short trip, i'm glad i got to spend time with aaron. we don't really get to see each other but we always have a memorable time when we do. the failures of the trip just make for future laughs. can't wait for the next trip since we always seem to get the hook-up whenever we're together!
